Nashville, Tennessee – February 7, 2014 – Today is Country Music Superstar Garth Brooks’ birthday and man, does he have a great year to look forward to. Ever since he announced his come back the country music world has been buzzing about it. With a world tour to start in the fall and a Comeback Special event at Dublin’s Croke Park Garth has his work cut out for him. Brooks had mentioned he’d like to play Croke Park ever since he played there in 1997, while the stadium was under construction.
“Before we go back on tour in the fall of 2014, I want to challenge myself, the band and crew,” he said when he announced the dates. “In ’97, we were lucky enough to play Croke Park, the stadium was under construction. 130,000-plus of some of the greatest fans in the world. I was quoted then as saying, ‘When this stadium is finished, I would love to come back and try to fill it again…this time to the brink’
The Comeback Special, which was originally only scheduled for two nights, sold out so fast that a third, fourth and fifth show were added. Yesterday, tickets for the last two dates went on sale and sold out within a few hours, coming to a total of 400,000 sold tickets for the five shows! Dates for his comeback world tour has not been announced yet but it’s ellegitely going to last three years. So here’s to the a great year and many more to come. Happy birthday Garth!
